In The Living Room

Last night, I played my first house concert.

House concerts are, in my opinion, one of the most wonderful movements in the modern music scene. Here’s why: a host, who is passionate about music, invites an artist to come and play a concert in his living room. He invites friends to come to this concert, and they all bring some food, drink and a contribution for the artist. The artist plays an intimate, up-close-and-personal show, sharing the stories behind their music, interacting with the audience, and gets to know a whole room full of new fans. The audience get an authentic, unique concert. There is no middle man. Everyone wins!

Last night, I learned a lot. It was the first time we had done all the equipment set up out of the Land Rover, and the first solo show I had done in the USA. But the biggest thing I learned is that this is what I love to do! Play music, meet wonderful people, tell stories, learn and share, eat, drink and be creative.

The intimacy and connection with the audience when you are sitting in someone’s living room, after having eaten a meal together, is a very special experience. The energy is beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who came. And thank you to all of you who will be coming, to my shows and to other house concerts. Let’s celebrate live music.
